What Is The Church?
/It is the body of Christ - Col. 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
It is the hope of the world - Col. 1: 27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
It is the temple of the Holy Spirit - 1 Cor. 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
It is the light/standard for the world - Matt. 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
! Pet. 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
It is the preserver of the world - Matt. 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth; but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
It is the instrument through which God reveals his wisdom - Eph. 3:10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God.
It is the keeper of God’s power and authority - Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
It is the repository of God’s promises - 2 Pet. 1: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
It is the voice that glorifies God throughout the earth - Eph. 3:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen
Heb. Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.
